Peanut Brittle

Ok so noone ever reads this site anyway. Today I painted on my canvas for awile and then decided to whip up some Microwave Peanut Brittle. Now im a man folks. A natural born over aged big boy salmon eatin big game hunting photo shooting manly sort of a long haired beard growin man! Damn that felt good! Im not a redneck but a subsistance eater and hunter gatherer. A simple approach to life. I have used this recipe for several years and have to share it as its a winner. I have tuned it up and its as good as a peanut brittle candy bar from down town in one of those pornographic magazine stores you all been prusing. Here it is.
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup clear Karo Syrp
1/8 tsp salt
1 1/4 cup unsalted roasted peanuts... Or if your ready... Almonds to die for
1 tsp margerine or butter
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vinilla extract.... Home made extract is out of this world.

Mix sugar karo and salt in a microwavable bowl. Put this goo in the nuke oven and letter rip for 4 minutes. Put on leather gloves as this stuff is hot and needs to be respected.

When the beeper goes off pull this out quck and hot and stir in the peanuts (Almonds) and return to the Nuke oven for two minutes. Fast

After two minutes remove with gloves and get ready. Add butter, soda and vinilla. this I prepare ahead of time in a small bowl ready to go as this has to be added fast. Stir into the goo as fast as you can. Now you need to pour this onto a cookie sheet you have oiled down or butterd down as the mixture will stick if not lubed up.

You have to mix and pour darn fast as this stuff hardens as soon as you take the heat off and add the last ingredience. The gloves help as its gotta be done fast. Hot candie leaves a mark on your tender body if it gets on it.
This stuff sets fast so dump it on the sheet and spread as fast as you can. Some will harden on the spoon and the bowl. Take the bowl and fill it with hot water now. The hot water will disolve the stuck on candy in the bowl if you let it set. Almost impossible to scrub this stuff off. Let it set and it disolves. Now. Take the sheet of candy outside in the cool winter where the bears, dogs, kids and hobo worthless relitives dont find it. It needs to cool for about 20 minutes. When cool bust it into chunks and store in a good air prof container. It is imparative that ingredience be set up ahead of time and dont try to double this recepie or it wont work. Honestly it will turn to taffy. One batch at a time in a cool container. I just finished my two year dentist adventure fixing my teeth. would I lie to you>? Try this one and send it to your college kid and it makes a great holiday fun quick gift... A ya and it tastes fantastic. I'm a man... a manly man of Manley foods from years of tooth aches.. give this one a try.. lins bears for your day

Pass Words

For some reason this blog went down and I could not access it. It kept telling me to enter my password but would not accept it. I requested a memory update. Yep it gave me one. I entered the same one I been using for a couple of years and presto chango I'm in. Have no idea what that was but I do hope someone out there is listening in and maybe reading some of this stuff. I have noticed in Alaska about 0730 to 9 am the computer can do almost anything. Must be a rush of people signing on all at once. Just log it up to what the heck was that! Thank god for instant coffee as the mate decided to use up the flavored stuff she had hidden in the back of the cupboard. Wow who needs peppermint Christmas surprise coffee? Shockingly attack on the morning taste buds. The morning is brightening to a constant drizzle and overcast skies with cold winds. Ya now. There is a bright forecast to drink Peppermint coffee to. Maybe I will follow it with some burnt toast and leftover liver and onions. Add a little sour milk to that and your breakfast is complete! I think resident bear will like the unused portion of the coffee he is going to find down by the culvert. Now to just come up with some sniveling excuse as to how it got there. A guy just has to be sensitive to his Mate. I forget the password often. smilin and a photo or two from the new Cannon.

virus

Oh jeesh I turn on the telly to get game 5 world series and presto the channel is down. I'm a bit bummed as I got to see the last 3 innings of game 4 and it was a good game. So I go on the Internet and look for a site that has tele with the game on. I found what looked like a good one and clicked on it. Ohhhhh crap this pop up comes up and a bar download appears and starts dumping into my computer! I couldn't get to the x in time. This is the same adware that attacked me in the past. I was pissed about this one attaching to the series game. What a shit thing to do to people. Anyway my Norton Anti Virus kicked and it popped up saying this adware had been blocked before downloading! Wow I had a real mess with it last time but I then clicked on more details and Norton was able to tell me what it was and assure me it was blocked. Thank the King Salmon for that one. It took me a week to get it off last time. It is a pop up that says your computer is infected and you can get it off by buying this spyware program for x amount. Presto folks it gets your credit card and money and does nothing..... Nasty little thing. Whats worse is it wont go away from your system. It comes up every time you change to a different site or function. A real knarly one. Heck with the Internet. Begining to scare me.
I been working on some older photos and bringing them up to speed with colors and detail. Check these out... older shots but I think I saved them well.

base Ball

Its the world Series Baseball games! I'm not a real sports fan but this is beginning to irritate me. I can turn on the television here in Juneau and see every NFL game, every rough house boxing, Nascar, and synchronised female dog paddling but I cant get the Series on the tube. There was a time in this country when folks would have torn the satellite station off the wall to get the game. What kind of homeland insecurity set up is this one. I only watch about 4 games per year. The world series games and the Superbowl. That's about it. I am now listening to the game on Internet radio New York Stations. Great way to hear it but it ain't the same when a homer is hit just over the wall for a leading run! Now that just takes the head off my beer and reinforces the Prozac need. I tell ya its a Arab plot of some kind. Maybe the American flag, hot dogs and baseball has become second rate to Dog the bounty hunter picking up crack whores for failing to appear! Sheesh I feel left out of the U.S.A. Sort of like the Veco Exec that got 3 years and a massive fine for bribing senator Stevens of Alaska and Stevens walked free out of court with nothing....zip nada for accepting bribes as found guilty by a court of law... something wrong here... something wrong. Here is a couple of photos taken yesterday. Skis made into a wall as stuff that comes into Juneau seldom leaves and a small birdy eating along the surf. I do think it is a dipper but need to do some bird identification work. Bring on the baseball game and a fresh beer. A nice moose nose for you reading this.. ha. lins

Wnterizing the place

I been busy winterizing the cracker box we have here. Its a small place and great in the summer but its a cold shack in the winter. I have 13 windows in a living room 12 by 25. That's allot of glass to bring on the cold. One of the things I do is put plastic shrink wrap over the window frames in the winter. I really think this helps as it adds another layer of dead air between the window pain and the room. I strip the door frames with clear tape to seal the cracks for every bit of cold air out of here is ok by me. Me and Duct tape are good friends. I think this stuff went to the space station. Great stock to invest in me thinks. I keep working on photos and spend allot of time on the computer in the winter. Last thing I need is cold feet. We got our first dusting of snow at 2000 feet last night. A few snow drifts in that elevation went all summer without melting. It was a good summer but next year will be better as I am fully retired and just cruising on Rum and camera pixels. Stay tuned for some great adventures this winter as I am looking forward to the xcountry skiing already. New camera and letting the world know I'm out and about. Smilin Linsey

yesterdays photos also

I have been able to get out and take a few photos. I hit the glacier area as that is the richest source of wildlife and scenery around in one place. I was able to get a shot of a yearling bear that came right under the glacier viewing area deck as I was watching two eagles that had a sockeye on the bank. The bear sat down and watched the eagles then decided to pay them a visit. He strolled over and rousted the eagles who flew up to a nearby tree and yipped a bunch to voice their opinion. The bear did well.
I then strolled back to the walk ways and found a yearling porky pine about the size of a soft ball just grazing along the walk way. I took a bagillion shots of the little critter whom didn't look like he had any quills. He was just feeding but honestly they never stop chewing to give a perfectly steady shot. He very seldom ever looked up and just was feeding along. Two other photographers joined the crowd and I'm sure this critter will make the cover of Rolling Stone one day. He was feeding right by the fence of the parking lott. When we were done we hearded him off the path and under the fence toward the woods. People often take their dogs to the viewing area and this little guy would have been toast for the nearest FiFi dog. I do hope he makes it. Keeping the shutter moving is a good way to keep me awake. Here is about three photos for my day there. smilin lins
